India's Organic Waste Crisis Meets Clean Energy Demand

India generates over 62 million tonnes of solid waste annually. Open dumping and burning create emissions, odour, leachate and public health risks — while industries and transport desperately seek cleaner alternatives.

🌿

Abundant Feedstock

Food waste, agri residue, Napier grass, market waste, cow dung — available at low or negative cost in feedstock-rich zones around Bengaluru, Karnataka, and beyond.

Strong Fuel Demand

India imports 55%+ of its gas. OMCs, CGD networks, and industries urgently need domestic, renewable gas. CBG at ₹62–70/kg is competitive with natural gas.

🌾

Farmer & Rural Economy

Organic manure (FOM) from the digester replaces chemical fertilizers. Tipping fee income and feedstock purchase create rural livelihoods and circular economy loops.

The CBG Opportunity

India MSW generated / year ~62 MT
SATAT target CBG capacity 15 MMT/year
Number of SATAT plants targeted 5,000+
CNG vehicle fleet (India) 35 Lakh+
Indicative CBG price (OMC) ₹54–70/kg
CBG vs Diesel carbon reduction ~70–90%

"CBG bridges waste management, renewable fuel, and rural economy — making it one of the most policy-supported and commercially viable clean-tech sectors in India today."
